Background Information
Professional profile - I trained in major centres in London, Yorkshire and Wales.  On the clinical side I am able to offer a comprehensive service for patients with all types of breast disorders.  I perform my own diagnostic ultrasound and have pioneered the use of minimally invasive ultrasound guided breast surgery for patients with benign lumps and gynaecomastia.  This allows lesions of up to 3 cms in size to be removed through a 3mm scar under ultrasound  guidance.  I also offer a full range of reconstructive breast procedures as well as aesthetic breast surgery including breast reduction and augmentation.

I currently co-ordinate several local trials, including a trial into the physical and psychological effects of breast reduction surgery, as well as diagnostic trials for breast cancer.  In addition, I am surgical co-ordinator; for a muliticentre UK trial into the use of MRI and the diagnosis of breast disease; and a co-investigator in a multicentre European trial for diet and breast cancer.  As a point of principle all eligible private patients are at least offered entry into the trials which are offered to my NHS patients.
Personal profile - I am married to Dr G Turner a GP trainee and have 3 children under four years of age.  Therefore the only hobby I have time for is armchair gardening and I like to sleep occassionally.
